You might want to try TotalFinder by BinaryAge. It has an option in it to sort folders first like you want. Hope this helps! http://totalfinder.binaryage.com/

thank u for this. but i still can not sort it the way microsoft windows has it, i.e. folders first and files after, by name, kind or whatever. if i do in arrange view and then resize the finder window the file and folder icons are not rearranged according to window size. disgusting still for me. any idea?

Hey! Thanks for the code…. I’d suggest just showing some sample data though, instead of no data…. as I tried to use this and got “undefined” results, and burned about 30 min before I realized the problem was the print_a function not working well with my JSON data…. I incorrectly assumed the problem was with the JSON.as file and looked around for newer revs! Thanks so much for the post!.

Oh thank you thank you thank you!!! This has been driving me absolutely bonkers since upgrading to lion! For the life of me I couldn’t figure out what to do to get my alphabetical sorting back in the column view. I am sooo glad I found this post!

Beats me why Apple head off on tangents and leave it to users to find their balls ups. Thanks for the heads up on this sort file nonsense. I was creating new folders and moving stuff in so I could arrange it. Dill me.

Not sure if I understand this right…: Twitterlex is discontinued due to an API change since 2007? Why do I still find this on apple.com/downloads/dashboard, then? Wouldn’t it be time to take it down if it doesn’t work any more?

Hi, this code is awesome and works 100% when I’m in flash. As soon as I place it on a live site it timesout By process of elimination I’ve figured that the problem steps in on the “.onData” function.

My swf embed are set to params.allowscriptaccess = “always”;
I really don’t know what could be the problem.

Does someone have any idea?

At last, no jQuery etc. in sight, just plain JavaScript… great! The real fun with this starts when you specify negative numbers for “speedrato” for all or some backgrounds on a multiple background setup, especially if one half of a website is travelling upwards, the other half downwards… In any case, thanks for making your script available!
